Why Subscribe

I am Dave Martin, Outcome Leader coach, author and ex-CPO. I am thrilled you have found my newsletter.

In 2019, after a nine-figure ed-tech exit, I left my last full-time Chief Product Officer role and focused my energies towards coaching product leaders and fractional CPO support. Today, I work with B2B tech companies, helping them maximize their potential and build products that create a difference for customers and stakeholders.

After co-authoring my book The Product Momentum Gap, I received many follow-up questions, encouraging me to share more about Outcome Leadership. My goal for this newsletter is to give pragmatic advice for emerging and growing product management leaders to use daily or weekly, helping them achieve their goals.

What is Outcome Leadership

I define Outcome Leadership as focusing people (or teams) on the desired results and empowering them with autonomy to deliver the best outcome using the least resources or investment. This does not mean anarchy and chaos. It also does not mean teams are on their own unsupported. This servant leadership style sets teams up for their most tremendous success.

As product leaders, to succeed in empowering teams through Outcome Leadership, you must create confidence and build trust up the chain of hierarchy while at the same time fostering safety and accountability in your teams.

To help you achieve what may feel like a balancing act, The Outcome Habits newsletter provides practical advice, helping you lead product managers to craft products customers desire and support business ambition by finding alignment, creating autonomy and accelerating performance.
